Just when we thought he couldn’t shock us and outrage us any more with his behavior. Trump continues to do everything to divide us with his narcissistic personality, the constant need for admiration. But it’s always the wrong kind of attention.We have seen the signs and actions that told us he was a racist and bigot. He is trying to erase Black history from museums and national parks. He even ordered the display of household slaves exhibited at George Washington’s house in Philadelphia taken down. National Parks used to offer free admission on Martin Luther King Day. Trump changed the free day to Flag Day, which also happens to be his birthday. How low and petty can you get.?
Trump spends his nights ranting on his Truth Social. I think he can’t sleep because he has to constantly be proving he is always right and he’s being persecuted even after all he has done for the country. He’s gone after his favorite target, the Obamas. Thursday night he posted a video set to the song “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” that promoted his theories about the 2020 election and how it was fixed and slurs against black Americans. At the end of the 62 second video was an image of Barack and Michelle made to look like apes. Trump’s first reaction when confronted by reporters was to deny. He claims he only saw the beginning of the video and not the images of the Obamas. “I just looked at the first part, it was about voter fraud in some place, Georgia. I didn’t see the whole thing. I gave it to people, generally they look at the whole thing but I guess somebody didn’t. No, I didn’t make a mistake.” The post has been deleted.
First, you have to believe some staffer would post that without clearing it Trump. Then he makes no apology for what most us would view as an unforgivable act. As far as we know, no one has been reprimanded or fired. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt dismissed the criticism, “This is from an internet meme video depicting President Trump as the King of the Jungle and Democrats as characters from the Lion King. Please stop the fake outrage and report on something today that actually matters to the American public.” Leavitt is a twenty-eight year old with no sense of history and in a job way over her head. She reminds me of an AI creation when she spews Trump’s nonsense.
Leavitt spoke of fake outrage. Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina, the Senate’s only Black Republican, and an avid supporter of Trump was finally paying attention. He wrote, “The President should remove it because it’s the most racist thing I’ve seen out of this White House.” Notice the wording, “it’s the most racist thing I’ve seen out of this White House”. It implies there was other racist things but this is the worst so far. Other Republicans who fear getting on Trump’s wrong side have weakly come out saying the post was “offensive”, “heart breaking” “unacceptable”. These hypocrites have supported everything Trump has done.
Obama has been a target of Trump’s racism before. He pushed the false narrative “birther” conspiracy that Obama wasn’t qualified to be president because he wasn’t born in the United States. The idea of a Black president was too much for Trump. Obama was born in Hawaii. The Obamas haven’t responded to the latest Trump attack. But at the 2024 Democratic Convention Michele didn’t hold back. “For years, Donald Trump did everything in his power to try to make people fear us. See, his limited and narrow view of the world made him feel threatened by the existence of two hard-working, highly educated, successful people who happen to be Black. It’s the same old con, doubling down on ugly misogynistic, racist lies as a substitute for real ideas and solutions that will actually make people’s lives better.”
Despite the evidence Trump is a racist and bigot and may be showing signs of mental deterioration, we have three more years to see if he can reach yet a new bottom.
